Bethune-Cookman football game enters weather delay vs. Alabama State
Bad weather arrived at Daytona Stadium during the first quarter of a football game between Bethune-Cookman and Alabama State.
DAYTONA BEACH — Early in Bethune-Cookman's SWAC football opener vs. Alabama State on Oct. 3, rain began pouring.
With 19 seconds left in the first quarter, the game officially entered a weather delay. Both teams were sent to their locker rooms, and fans were instructed to clear the stands at Daytona Stadium. No new start time has been announced.
Each lightning strike within an eight-mile radius resets a 30-minute timer.
The Wildcats grabbed a quick 6-0 lead with two short field goals by Aiden Lanier.
Alabama State had just started a new possession when the delay arrived. It has the ball at its own 26-yard line.
