Atlanta Braves hosted Seventh annual 44 Classic at Truist Park

ATLANTA, GA (WJBF)- The Atlanta Braves baseball team may have been on the road this Labor Day weekend against the Phillies, but at Truist Park, they hosted the seventh annual 44 Classic presented by Nike.

76 of the southeast's top high school baseball players all came together to participate in a pro style workout, featuring former MLB greats like Marquis Grissom. The event also honors the legacy of Hank Aaron, serving as a platform to provide more access and exposure to rising baseball talent. It also gives players a chance to play in front of scouts, coaches, and baseball professionals.

"The talent just gets better, better, and better. It's just a continuation from travel ball to high school ball, to in the fall time giving these kids an opportunity to still showcase their talent here with the Braves," said Marquis Grissom.

"It's so cool, because the Braves play here every week. Hopefully being on the same field as them one day, already seeing what they've done, hopefully I can be the next one, you know," said high school prospect Kendall Turner.

The Braves return home to Truist Park Tuesday night face the Tampa Bay Rays.
