Browns blasted for 'horrendous vibes' thanks to Deshaun Watson QB decision

Deshaun Watson was named the starting quarterback for Week 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars , and predictably, it went horribly wrong. They lost 34-10, which could've been 34-3 if it weren't for a last-minute garbage-time touchdown.

After the brutal loss, Todd Monken stuck by Watson as the starter, backing him as QB1 for Week 2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers . But plenty of fans, and even media members, are over Watson being the Browns ' QB.

ESPN's Dan Graziano blasted the Browns for their "horrendous vibes" with Watson as the starter. He called out Todd Monken for the decision with Watson and has a hard time believing things will improve so long as Watson is the starter.

"It's hard for me to be surprised when someone who insists on starting Watson at quarterback in 2026 doesn't have success," Graziano writes of Monken. "There are some things to like about Cleveland 's roster, and I believe Monken knows how to coach, but the Browns aren't going anywhere with Watson."

Graziano continued, "Until they admit that and make a change, I don't see how things can improve. Just horrendous vibes all the way around."

This is some brutal analysis for the Browns and Watson, but it's an especially bad indictment of Monken.

The Browns head coach has stuck by Watson as the starter, despite Watson clearly being one of the worst quarterbacks in the NFL in a starting job.

Cleveland would do well to move on from Watson sooner rather than later, and taking him out of the starting job is Monken's duty.

But he's sending Watson back out there in Week 2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers , and Graziano has little interest in the Browns while Monken keeps making this decision.

It's hard not to see the Browns' vibes as "horrendous," as Graziano noted, as Watson being the starter provides no upside, and the beef between him and the Browns fanbase certainly doesn't help his case.

Graziano put the Browns and Monken on blast for continuing to start Watson, and while it's harsh, it's a fairly accurate analysis of the Browns' current status and outlook.

Until they make a switch, whether it's to Shedeur Sanders , Dillon Gabriel , or even Taylen Green , the vibes with this Browns team are going to be, as Graziano put it, horrendous.
