Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson could exorcise 2025 demons vs. Steelers

New England Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson is hoping to erase one of his worst performances when facing the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2 of the season.

Last season, Stevenson lost two fumbles in the Patriots ' 21-14 loss to the Steelers. That performance is likely still seared in the back of his mind ahead of the rematch between the two teams on Sunday. There is no doubt that Steelers defenders will be poking and prodding at the ball in hopes of forcing takeaways throughout the game.

Stevenson watched last week's game between the Steelers and Atlanta Falcons and saw an aggressive defense that stays in constant attack mode.

"Just a great team all around. They're going after that ball first and foremost. They [are] 100 percent on each play. There's no lows on that defense. They're trying to get the ball carrier," Stevenson told reporters .

The Patriots had a rough start to the season on the ground in last week's opener against the Seattle Seahawks.

Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels tried to incorporate Stevenson into the game plan early and often, and the running back did what he could. However, he only mustered 18 carries for 51 yards, averaging 2.8 yards per carry.

The veteran running back will look to improve on that performance on Sunday, while also exorcising his demons with the same Steelers team that gave him trouble last season.
