WWE continues its stay in Mexico City Monday night on Raw, with a blockbuster broadcast of the company's flagship show headlined by Roman Reigns defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Penta.

WWE is once again in the thick of The Bloodline Saga, setting up what appears to be a long-term storyline involving Reigns as champion and his cousins, The Usos and Jacob Fatu, as his minions.

While the story feels significantly less compelling than the original, there appears to be a concentrated effort to elevate Fatu into the realm of consistent main eventers. For that reason, Reigns must retain his title and continue to tell that story.

Especially if there is any semblance of a chance that The Rock returns to finally set up that long-awaited, one-on-one clash with The OTC.

Raw is a stagnant brand right now, one that feels repetitive and uninspired, even more so when Reigns does not appear on the flagship.

Meanwhile, Penta is a fresh addition to the top of the card, a luchador who has been over with audiences from day one, has undeniable chemistry, has proven himself in high-profile matches, and could easily run with the title.

In fact, he would be the first first-time champion to hold the top prize on Monday nights since Jey Uso defeated Gunther for the title at WrestleMania 41, over 17 months ago.

Putting the title on Penta would give the creative team a fresh champion to promote. It would also create an unforgettable moment in Mexico City, where he could celebrate with the people who have supported him since the beginning of his career.

For a show that needs a shot of adrenaline entering the back quarter of the year, a Penta coronation is exactly what it needs.

The company crowned a new Undisputed WWE Champion on Friday night as Sami Zayn defeated CM Punk to take the gold. It followed that up on Sunday with El Grande Americano finally besting Dominik Mysterio and capturing the AAA Mega Championship.

The table is set for the most notable title change yet: a Penta victory that creates a new main event star, gives the fans the most unforgettable title changes yet, and provides Raw with a consistently appearing champion.

Unfortunately, Raw is where the momentous victories end.

There is a snowball's chance in Arizona that the creative team interrupts the latest incarnation of The Bloodline in the middle of a feud with Royce Key's 946 faction, with LA Knight jockeying for a title shot, and takes the title off of Reigns.

The Tribal Chief and The Bloodline are a safety blanket for them and, regardless of whether it hits as it used to or not, it is the overarching story on the brand.

Could interference from Knight or Keys' trio set up the title change? Sure, but it would weaken Penta and create unnecessary controversy for his first world championship victory.

Neither he nor the top of the card needs that considering how much the same story has been at the center of the SmackDown main event scene for months.

Reigns wins, retains his title, but in a way that puts Penta over as a legitimate challenger and earns The OTC's respect.
