It wasn't all good news for Texas A&M football after a 41-0 shutout win on Saturday , as head coach Mike Elko provided an update on the Aggies ' talented junior wide receiver.

Ashton Bethel-Roman did not attend Saturday's home contest against The Citadel due to personal reasons and is being "given space" by the team to deal with the matter. This comes after Bethel-Roman dealt with an injury earlier in the year, before making a return back to the lineup recently.

He was named the starter at the beginning of the season, but has caught just seven passes for 56 yards in five games played through the first seven weeks. Bethel Roman has been targeted 15 times in 2026, which is fourth among the wide receiving corps, behind Isaiah Horton, Mario Craver and Aaron Gregory.

Here's Elko's update on Bethel-Roman in the postgame press conference via TexAgs :

Texas A&M's wideout group keeps getting lighter each week. Terry Bussey and Madden Williams are out for the year and Mario Craver, Marcel Reed's top target, has also seen limited action over recent weeks while dealing with an injury. Fortunately, rising stars like Gregory and TK Norman stepped up for the Aggies in their Week 7 shutout of The Citadel, hauling in 11 combined receptions for 182 yards and two touchdowns.

Bethel-Roman being out of the rotation is a massive hit for Elko and company. With multiple huge SEC contests rapidly approaching, the health and overall status of Texas A&M's offense, especially the wide receiving corps, could be detrimental moving forward.
