“Jalen Hurts Might Have to Hand the Ball Off to Himself”: NFL Fans React as Eagles Hit With Major Setback Hours After Jaguars Loss

The Philadelphia Eagles suffered a 19-17 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in their Week 5 matchup at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on Sunday.

With Philadelphia losing its third game in a row, its roster struggles keep increasing, with running back Will Shipley suffering a foot injury in the second quarter. ESPN's Adam Schefter confirmed on Monday that a plantar fascia injury will sideline him for multiple weeks.

As the news of Shipley's injury broke, fans online wrote about the sorry state of the Eagles' injury situation.

"At this rate, Jalen Hurts might have to hand the ball off to himself. 😭," a fan on X wrote .

While an exact return timeline for Will Shipley is still unknown, the Eagles (2-3) would like the running back to return as soon as possible given the long season ahead.

Who Will Start As The Eagles' RB In Week 6?

With running back Will Shipley out of action for an indefinite period of time, Philadelphia Eagles coach Nick Sirianni finds the team in a precarious position considering the number of injuries Philadelphia has already faced this season.

According to their depth chart , the Philadelphia Eagles could feature Dameon Pierce as their starting running back during their Week 6 game against the Carolina Panthers (2-2), with Carson Steele as his backup.

With Eagles starting running back Saquon Barkley suffering a hamstring injury in Week 4 against the Los Angeles Rams, Will Shipley filled in to replace Barkley's ball-carrying duties before sustaining a foot injury in Week 5.
