The Philadelphia 76ers were hit with injury news Thursday afternoon as center Adem Bona was diagnosed with a left foot sprain. Bona, Philadelphia 's backup center, suffered the injury during a workout. According to the team, Bona will be re-evaluated at the start of training camp, which is scheduled to begin September 29.

Entering his third season, the 23-year-old has been a reliable backup big man, averaging 5.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 0.5 assists, 0.4 steals and 1.2 blocks in 129 career appearances (16.6 minutes per game). Following a plethora of offseason moves made by the Sixers, Bona is expected to compete for a backup role with free agent addition Ariel Hukporti , who signed a one-year $3.4 million deal after winning an NBA championship last season with the New York Knicks . Hukporti is entering his third NBA season as well but has played much more sparingly, with 79 appearances averaging 9.1 minutes per contest.
