Ladd McConkey injury news: Will Chargers WR play against Raiders?
Find out if Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey will play today.
Wide receiver Ladd McConkey is active and will play through a cracked rib, and he supposed to wear a flak jacket today as the Chargers host the Raiders at SoFi Stadium.
After suffering the injury in Week 1 against the Cardinals, McConkey missed early-week practices but returned in a limited capacity on Friday.
In Week 1, the contrast in the passing game before and after McConkey's third-quarter departure was staggering. With McConkey on the field creating separation, quarterback Justin Herbert averaged 8.9 yards per pass attempt. Without him, that number dropped to 3.9 yards.
Even if McConkey acts partly as a decoy to open up opportunities for Quentin Johnston and Tre' Harris, he forces the Raiders to respect the intermediate routes where he normally thrives.
McConkey has recorded 19 catches for 221 yards and two touchdowns in four career games against the Raiders.
