Mike Evans, Trent Williams both injured, exit 49ers' game vs. Cardinals

On Sunday, Evans, 33, became the San Francisco 49ers ' third wide receiver in as many games to be carted away after suffering a first-half injury. Evans was ruled out with a rib injury after he grabbed his right side after he was targeted with an incomplete pass against the Cardinals .

Evans wasn't the 49ers' only prominent offensive player to exit with assistance. All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams suffered a shoulder stinger and was carted to the locker room in the third quarter. Williams, who returned to the sideline in uniform, was ruled questionable to return.

Evans, 33, did not make contact with any Arizona players on his final snap Sunday. Three plays before he exited, the six-time Pro Bowl selection did take a big hit from safety Budda Baker on a 9-yard reception. After grabbing his right side, Evans was in obvious discomfort as he walked slowly off the field. He briefly took a knee when he reached the sideline and appeared to be trying to catch his breath. He took a seat on the bench while surrounded by members of the medical staff and a cart was summoned.

Robinson (ankle) was carted off in Week 2 after Stribling (ankle) did so in the season opener. Both Robinson and Stribling are on injured reserve. Without Evans, the 49ers' four remaining active wideouts are Deebo Samuel , Jacob Cowing , Jordan Watkins and KhaDarel Hodge .

Evans (three catches, 34 yards) had a 23-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter. He also pitched the ball to Samuel on a 80-yard hook-and-lateral touchdown pass on the 49ers' opening drive.

• The 49ers' top cornerback, Deommodore Lenoir , returned to the game after halftime. He was evaluated for a concussion in the second quarter.
