Bayern Munich vs. Borussia Dortmund: Gamethread
FC Bayern has a chance to race away in top spot in the Bundesliga
It's not Bayern's best game so far. There is zero composure and there is a general air of nervousness around some of the players.
Dortmund had several good chances to score and they had one if it weren't for a sloppy mistake from Kim Min-jae and a knee to the head for Jonas Urbig.
It's incredibly unfortunate to lose Ismael Saibari and Serge Gnabry to injury just days before a match against Atletico Madrid.
45+4' — Guirassy is flagged offside for Dortmund before Maximilian Beier missed a sitter.
45' — Six minutes of stoppage time are added on.
41' — 2026 Ballon d'Or winner Harry Kane and Bellingham trade shots on both ends of the pitch.
38' — TOR! After the goal scare, Bayern go down the other end with Konrad Laimer. The Austrian's initial shot was saved by Kobel but he rebounded his own shot and in. Bayern leads 1-0!
36' — Dortmund have a Bellingham goal chalked off due to a Urbig receiving a knee from Carney Chukwuemeka.
31' — Serge Gnabry is injured too. Josip Stanisic replaces him.
29' — Nathaniel Brown replaces the injured Saibari.
24' — Ismael Saibari couldn't finish a 1v1 chance. Kobel collects the ball.
22' — Jonas Urbig dives low to save a shot from Bellingham.
21' — Bayern concedes a freekick after Kim Min-jae tackles Serhou Guirassy.
15' — Bayern withstands a spell of Dortmund danger.
10' — Michael Olise's thundering shot hits the upright of the goal frame.
6' — Bayern win a freekick on the right side of the box after Jobe Bellingham gets booked for pulling down Alphonso Davies.
Lineups are out! Jonas Urbig starts in goal with Ismael Saibari, Serge Gnabry, and Joshua Kimmich all starting; Aleksandar Pavlović is back in action too. Harry Kane's image is him holding his Ballon d'Or, a nice touch.
Bayern Munich is currently on a two-match winning streak, beating SC Freiburg 3-1 away and then sealing progression in the DFB-Pokal by thrashing 2. Bundesliga outfit FC Magdeburg 6-1 in the second round. Up next is a real acid test: Der Klassiker against Borussia Dortmund in the Allianz Arena.
The Schwarzgelben , playing a lot like Premier League side Arsenal, is level on points with Bayern yet they are second in the league thanks to their inferior goal difference. The Bavarians already got a taste of this Black and Yellow team in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup and won 2-1. Can the Rekordmeister repeat the trick today?

Bayern wins 2-1. This will be a tightly contested match, similar to the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup a few months ago. Harry Kane and Michael Olise will score, before yet another sloppy defensive error in the final minutes will make for a nervy finish. Bayern will still hold on for the win, however.
