Elversberg took 8,000 fans to the Signal Iduna Park for their Bundesliga clash against Borussia Dortmund. Although suffering a 2-1 defeat, their fourth in 2026/27, memories will have been created to last a lifetime for generations of Elversberg's travelling contingent.

But what makes the figure more impressive, is that it's a club record for Elversberg, who had never played higher than Germany's 3. Liga until 2023. Additionally, the 8,000 travelling supporters makes up 61 percent of the town's population – it really is that small!

Speaking prior to Elversberg's trip to Elversberg, head coach Vincent Wagner said: "Hooray, the whole community is here."

And despite being 2-0 down thanks to Felix Nmecha's second-half brace , Noel Futkeu's 81st-minute bicycle kick almost kickstarted a comeback.

Defeat at the Signal Iduna Park leaves the Saarland club on 13 points from a possible 27 after nine matchdays, a commendable tally for a club that was playing in Germany's fourth tier in 2022.
