Marquette explodes on offense in 69-45 victory over Kettle Moraine

Marquette's offense was too much for Kettle Moraine in a 69-45 nonconference high school football victory at Hart Park on Friday night, Sept. 4.

Marquette produced 648 total yards, with 316 passing, 332 rushing and eight touchdowns. Senior quarterback Ben Schroeder had 316 yards and five touchdowns. Sophomore running back Bear Bonk rumbled for 255 yards and three touchdowns. Senior Christian Miller was Schroeder's top target, catching four passes for 111 yards and a touchdown.

The Hilltoppers (2-1) also made big plays defensively. Atticus Godfrey helped hold things together along the defensive line, keeping Kettle Moraine (0-3) from establishing its offense. Caleb Miller intercepted two passes for Marquette.

Kettle Moraine also generated turnovers, intercepting a pass to open the game and picking off another to start the second half. A late third-quarter, tip-drill interception added another momentum-changing play in a game that featured turnovers from both sides. Junior Jett Allen was a defensive leader for the Hilltoppers with 16 total tackles, including two tackles for loss, along with a fumble recovery.

Kettle Moraine was led offensively by senior Nico Yttre, who had 291 rushing yards and one touchdown.

Marquette plays Franklin Sept. 11, and Kettle Moraine takes on Sussex Hamilton looking for its first win.
