Eagles star misses second straight practice as lingering injury threatens Week 4 status
Eagles star is out again.
PHILADELPHIA — Eagles star wide receiver DeVonta Smith has missed two consecutive days of practice with a hamstring injury.
Smith first appeared on the injury report last week, but he played through his hamstring injury during the Eagles' blowout loss to the Chicago Bears on Monday.
According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, it sounds like Smith's status for the Eagles ' Week 4 game against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday is "legitimately questionable."
If Smith can't play against the Rams, the Eagles will start Dontayvion Wicks , Makai Lemon and Darius Cooper at wide receiver.
On Thursday, depth wide receiver Hollywood Brown also missed his second practice of the week with an ankle injury. Brown was ruled out before Monday's game against the Bears.
Smith has thrived as the Eagles' No. 1 wide receiver in the first three games of the season, recording 19 catches for 235 yards and one touchdown.
He has made spectacular catches, including snagging a 30-yard contested catch down field on Bears Pro Bowler Jaylon Johnson .
The Eagles' passing offense is struggling with Smith in the lineup, and those struggles would only get worse if he can't play.
On Sunday, the Eagles could have a hard time moving the ball against the Rams' defense.
New Eagles offensive coordinator Sean Mannion must get Lemon going against the Rams. The first-round rookie wide receiver has finished with seven catches for 38 yards in the first three games.
Wicks would take over as the Eagles' No. 1 wide receiver. He has recorded nine catches for 179 yards and one touchdown.
