Klopp gets off the mark as Germany beat Serbia

Jurgen Klopp finally secured his first victory as Germany manager as his side beat Serbia 2-0 in Munich, easing some pressure after a difficult start to his reign.

Klopp made wholesale changes following defeat by Greece, but Germany quickly established control. Serge Gnabry and Nick Woltemade both threatened before Tom Bischof opened the scoring shortly before half-time.

Florian Wirtz was central to the breakthrough, weaving through the Serbian defence before seeing his effort rebound off the post. Bischof reacted quickest to smash the loose ball into the roof of the net for his first international goal.

Germany continued to dominate after the restart, although their finishing remained inconsistent. Woltemade somehow missed from close range, while Derry Scherhant also went close on his debut.

The hosts eventually found a second in the 60th minute. Maximilian Mittelstadt picked out Wirtz, who turned brilliantly inside the area before firing into the bottom corner.

Serbia offered little in response as Germany comfortably controlled the closing stages, leaving Klopp with his first win after three matches in charge.
