Chargers’ Justin Herbert suddenly named trade candidate for three first round picks

Should the Chargers consider it?

· 302 words

While the Los Angeles Chargers have arguably been the most disappointing team in the NFL this season at 0-4, it still feels like some crazy takes are flying around.

The 0-4 Chargers definitely haven't played the kind of football they hoped for entering this season, but saying they should move on from their franchise quarterback, Justin Herbert, still might not be the right idea.

While Herbert hasn't played well himself, a lot of that doesn't really fall on him. Some of it does, and Herbert has to be blamed for some of the problems we've seen over the past couple of years, though it's not crazy to say that if he were in a better system, he'd be a much better player.

As crazy as it might sound, he might be the perfect change-of-scenery candidate, with one insider recently suggesting that the Minnesota Vikings should be interested in him and the Chargers could get three first-round picks in return.

"I just don't think you have many options," Middlekauff said in an Oct. 6 video from "3 & OUT with John Middlekauff" about whether he sees the Vikings making a midseason trade for a QB, per Heavy .

"Who are you trading for? Would the Dolphins trade Malik Willis for a second-round pick? Could you offer three first-rounders for Herbert? If the team is just imploding and maybe they go winless and draft a quarterback, you would do that if you were Minnesota. I just don't really see your options."

If the Chargers were offered three first-round picks, as crazy as it might sound, it's definitely not a given that he'd be moved. Los Angeles would probably have to consider it, but it also has to feel like it has a franchise quarterback, and that might be worth more than three first-round picks.
