Carson Steele injury: Eagles RB injured against Panthers [UPDATE]
The Eagles RB depth got even thinner early in Week 6 against the Panthers.
The Eagles running back depth is already thin, to but it lightly, but things appeared to get worse in the first quarter on Sunday against the Panthers. Carson Steele nabbed a short pass by Tanner McKee, was pushed out of bounds, and was injured on the play. After a short evaluation in the medical tent, Steele headed to the locker room, and was later ruled questionable to return due to a shoulder injury.
Steele did return to the sideline with his helmet, and later in the second quarter was able to get back on the field with the special teams unit. It didn't last long, however, and after helping with kickoff duties, he was back in the medical tent for what looked like the same shoulder injury.
The RB was signed to the active roster just over a week ago, and played in London against the Jaguars, although all of his snaps came on special teams. Steele was getting some offensive opportunities early in Week 6 against the Panthers, and was targeted twice, hauling in one catch for four yards — the play on which he was injured.
The Eagles running back room is already without Saquon Barkley due to injury, and both Tank Bigsby and Will Shipley were put on IR, leaving Dameon Pierce as the starting RB, Steele, and then Jaydon Blue, as the only other active rushers.
