Farrell leaves Pompey on season-long Sydney loan

Portsmouth's Australian left-back Jacob Farrell has joined A-League side Sydney FC on a loan deal for the rest of the 2026-27 season.

The 23-year-old moved to Fratton Park from Central Coast Mariners in July 2024 but has made just three appearances for the club.

The former Australia youth international last played a first-team game in January when he came on as a late substitute at Watford.

"It has been a difficult period for Jacob with injuries and this move hopefully provides an opportunity for him to get his career back on track," Portsmouth boss John Mousinho told the club website.

"He is returning to a familiar environment and we wish him all the best with Sydney for the rest of the season."
