Justin Topa designated for assignment by New York Yankees

CHENANGO VALLEY, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) - Chenango Valley alum Justin Topa has been designated for assignment following being promoted to the New York Yankees roster last week.

Topa would play in two games in the pinstripes, starting his time with the team against the Houston Astros, and then playing in the weekend series against the Boston Red Sox.

He would pitch three innings, during which he would tally three strikeouts and allow no earned runs.

As of the 29th, New York now has seven days to either trade, waive, release, or assign Topa to a minor league roster. Over the course of his seven seasons in the MLB, the Yankees are his 4th team, along with the Milwaukee Brewers, Seattle Mariners, and Minnesota Twins.
