Arsenal are reportedly keeping a close eye on Borussia Dortmund forward Maximilian Beier as Andrea Berta continues to assess potential additions to Mikel Arteta's attack.

The Gunners ended the summer without landing another major attacking target after their pursuit of Julian Alvarez came to nothing, something we discussed recently when looking at whether Arsenal's transfer gamble could point towards another big signing in the coming January transfer window.

It appears the search has certainly not stopped.

Arsenal have reportedly watched Beier for 12 months

According to TEAMtalk , Arsenal scouts have been monitoring Beier for around 12 months and have been impressed by the 23-year-old German international. The report claims he is now firmly on the club's radar as they assess their future attacking options.

Beier joined Borussia Dortmund from Hoffenheim in 2024 for a fee of around €30million and has since registered 20 goals and 14 assists for the Bundesliga club.

One of the obvious attractions for Arsenal appears to be his versatility.

Although primarily a central striker, Beier can also operate from either flank or behind the main forward. That flexibility could certainly appeal to Arteta, whose attacking players are regularly required to perform more than one role.

Interestingly, the report also suggests Arsenal scouts see similarities between Beier and Kai Havertz , particularly in their movement, intelligence and ability to find space rather than simply operating as conventional number nines.

Nwaneri link gives Arsenal another chance to watch Beier

Arsenal already have another reason to be paying close attention to Dortmund this season, with Ethan Nwaneri spending the campaign there on loan .

The Gunners will naturally be monitoring the youngster's progress closely, potentially giving their recruitment team further opportunities to watch Beier at close quarters.

Manchester United and Tottenham are also reported to be paying attention to him.

For now, therefore, Beier is one to add to an increasingly interesting list of attacking players being monitored by Arsenal for a potential January transfer.

Gooners, would Beier's ability to play across several attacking positions make him an attractive addition, or should Arsenal concentrate on signing a more traditional goalscorer? Who would you go for? Let us know in the comments below.
