Ebbw Vale beat Wizards in perfect start to SRC

Ebbw Vale are setting the pace in Super Rygbi Cymru (SRC) after a 52-26 win at Aberavon.

The Steelmen, runners-up in 2025-26, earned a second six-point haul on the bounce when running in eight tries at the Talbot Athletic Ground.

The Wizards led 19-12 at half-time thanks to two tries by wing Frankie Jones after Gavin Parry's opener.

Dragons Harry Rees-Weldon and fellow wing Dafydd Thomas scored in the first half for Ebbw and six more tries followed after the break.

Hookers Ieuan Morris and James Talamai, full-back Morgan Rees (2), Thomas and centre Ethan Phillips all scored, while flanker Rhys Thomas earned the Wizards a four-try bonus point.

Newport are also two wins from two after beating champions Llandovery 46-26 at Church Bank.

The Drovers, who lost their opening fixture at Pontypool, started the better as number eight Daniel Gemine crossed for the opener.

But the visitors dominated the remainder of the half as scrum-half Dafydd Buckland grabbed two tries and wing Oli Andrew, lock Ethan Phillips and flanker Hunter Ward touched down.

Fly-half Ioan Hughes added to Gemine's try for Llandovery in the first half, and they continued their fightback to get the four-try bonus thanks to scores by wing Aaron Warren and replacement back Joshua Thomas.

Newport sealed a comfortable victory - and earned an extra bonus point - thanks to tries by flanker Tiehl Chatham and centre Brogan Leary.

Cardiff are the third team to have won twice after a 49-35 win against Swansea at the Arms Park.

Back-row forward Tirion Bowen, hooker Tom Howe and lock Tom Cottle scored for Cardiff in the first half, but Swansea led 23-21 thanks to wing Brandon Wood's double and a try by centre Jack Hoskins.

Wood completed his hat-trick to stretch the Whites' lead, but Cardiff responded impressively through prop Ioan Emanuel, full-back Isaac Marsh, centre Jason Harries and wing Dewi Cross.

Cardiff were denied an extra bonus point by fly-half Josh Phillips' late try.

Bridgend held off a spirited Pontypool comeback for a 50-38 away win.

The Ravens stormed to a 31-7 lead inside 25 minutes as wing Ben Evans, flanker Tom Jevons, wing McCauley Rowley (2) and centre Ryan Wilkins all crossed, with centre Ryan Conbeer adding a sixth first-half try for the visitors.

Pontypool clawed the score back to 43-38 thanks to tries by locks Liam Antrobus and Dan Hill, flanker Scott Matthews, scrum-half Ellis Lewis, fly-half Evan Lloyd, wing Rhys Cole, but Rowley completed his hat-trick to secure the victory.

Rygbi Gogledd Cymru (RGC) claimed their first win of the season by beating Carmarthen Quins 36-29 in Colwyn Bay.

Prop Pedr Jones, full-back Dion Jones, centre Danny Cross, wing Sam Jones, hooker Osian Burt scored tries for RGC, while Quins left with a pair of bonus points thanks to a penalty with the last kick by Madoc Evans.
