Andy Roddick hopes the US Women’s final gets the ‘respect it deserves’ despite absence of Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula

The US Women's Final between Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina is set to be an encounter between two of the best in the game. They will face each other at Flushing Meadows in front of a crowd that would have been hoping the final would be an All American affair.

Aryna Sabalenka made her way to the final after beating Jessica Pegula in straight sets (7-5, 6-2). Meanwhile, Rybakina overcame former US Open champion Coco Gauff in three sets (3-6,6-4,6-4).

The World Number 1 and 2 denied Arthur Ashe a chance to see the 11th All American women's US Open final, and the first since 2017.

However, Andy Roddick has asked for everyone to respect the final between the two stars, although it does not feature the two American sensations.

Roddick is a former US Open winner and knows what it's like to play in front of a home crowd.

He won his only Grand Slam at Arthur Ashe in front of over 20,000 fans who were cheering for him in the final over Juan Carlos Ferrero.

Roddick is now actively involved in the sport, working in the media, and also has his podcast where he spoke about how the crowds needed to respect Sabalenka and Rybakina.

"I hope the crowd gives it the respect that it deserves, even though it's not Coco or Jess in the final," he said on his Served podcast.

"These are two phenomenal players. The number one for this week, and then it flips next week. So let's enjoy these champions.

"As Sabalenka goes for her fifth major, Rybakina goes for her third, the second this year. Implications for number one in the world, on the line for the year-end ranking. So, I can't wait to watch this match."

Sabalenka leads the head-to-head with 10 wins in 17 games; however, Rybakina was the winner when the two met at the Australian Open in January.

The current World Number 1 has not lost a game at the US Open for almost three years and is coming into the final with hopes of three-peating. The last player to achieve this feat was Serena Williams.

There were many questions around her form coming into the tournament, but she has put all of that to bed with her electric display throughout the US Open.

Sabalenka will be hoping to win the prestigious US Open trophy once again and bag her fifth Grand Slam 5th title, while Rybakina will be hoping to end her streak of dominance in the US and beat her to secure her third ever title.
