Deal on! Liverpool moving forward on electric winger

Liverpool appear to have chosen their new winger. The Reds certainly want one and now they're moving forward on a star.

Liverpool need to act fast if they're to finally find the player who replaces Mohamed Salah on the right. There are now just two days remaining in the transfer window and they're firmly up against it.

Which is insane, really. Liverpool knew Salah was leaving months before the window opened and yet they still haven't signed anyone to play on the right. That's despite the Egyptian being the only natural right-winger in the squad.

Bradley Barcola will arrive as essentially the replacement of Salah's attacking output but the player to line up on the right? That's entirely unclear and Liverpool certainly haven't signed anyone to do it.

But it at least appears that they've settled on their target with two days to go. Journalist Foday Manneh reports that Liverpool are now back in talks for Yankuba Minteh.

This is a 'reactivation' of talks for the player, with Brighton having got back to Liverpool with a price the Reds actually like. That was always the sticking point here but it seems the Seagulls are suddenly more open to a sale than they were last week.

Active talks have resumed as a result and it sounds as though Liverpool are ready to move forward on Minteh. Now, the actual price isn't mentioned so it remains to be seen if it's actually a good deal.

Especially as there's every chance that Brighton haven't budged in their price but Liverpool are a little more desperate than they were a week ago. We're certainly hoping that's not the scenario playing out here.

There's every chance that it is, though. Liverpool really have no time remaining to negotiate a full deal for a winger and anyone willing to talk is going to take precedence over the 'best' option possible.

We can only cross our collective fingers that it's an approach which at least lands Liverpool a good player. Minteh boasts the kind of potential you'd want, even if his current output is far below what you'd want.
