Evangel, Haughton, Ruston, BTW among Friday Shreveport area winners

We knew the late Jerry Burton pretty well and he would have been freaked out by the offensive numbers posted Sept. 25 by Loyola and Northwood in the stadium that bears his name.

The two rivals combined for 1,105 yards almost evenly split between the two, although the Flyers (3-1) won the point battle 71-59 versus the Falcons (1-3). Loyola's Bryce Restovich, perhaps the best quarterback in the state without a major Division I offer, completed 21 of 31 throws for 424 yards and six touchdowns without an interception. He also rushed for 64 yards and another score. Sure-handed Charlie McKenzie hauled in 8 passes for 137 yards and two scores with Ty Walsworth catching 7 for 133 and two TDs.

On flipside, Northwood's Peyton Boone rushed for two scores and passed for a third, while Caden Stewart rushed 22 times for 150 yards and three scores.

The offensive onslaught made for a long night in Jerry Burton Memorial Stadium.

Ruston 63, Catholic-B.R. 28: Apparently you don't want to catch Ruston (3-1) following a loss. A week after losing on the road to Karr, the Bearcats blew past the Bears (1-3) behind quarterback Sam Hartwell, who completed 17 of 27 passes for 316 yards and five TDs, while rushing for 162 more yards and another score. Ruston's Kohl Gray added 146 yards on 16 totes with three TDs.

Haughton 50, Captain Shreve 36: The Buccaneers (4-0) remained undefeated with a dominant win versus the Gators (2-2). Brandon Craig rushed 25 times for 186 yards and four TDs, while Taylor Weathersby completed 14 of 25 passes for 371 yards and three scores for Haughton. Ethan Johnson caught 7 passes for 131 yards and two TDs. For Shreve, Gabe Lockett rushed 21 times for 214 yards and two TDs, while Maddox Parrot passed for 323 yards and three TDs (career highs). Kaleb Law snared 7 passes for 131 yards and two TDs.

Pleasant Grove 47, Byrd 7: The Hawks (5-0) remained undefeated in dominating the Jackets (0-4) behind three passing TDs from Colt Yancey. Byrd's lone score came from Trenton Henderson on a 2-yard run.

Evangel 49, Benton 13: The Eagles (2-2) saw Carldelerio Coleman return a punt for a TD while adding a rushing score to easily get past the Tigers (2-2). Zarrico Wayndon added two receiving TDs with Aiden Carter and Peyton Houston running for scores. Houston had five passing TDs.

Franklin Parish 54, Airline 43: The Vikings (3-1) got touchdowns covering 3, 75 and 60 yards from Terrence Hays but it wasn't enough. Chase Williams passed for three scores against the Patriots (3-1). The Patriots' Trey Martin scored six TDs.

BTW 44, Southwood 8: The Lions (3-1) found the scoring easy against the Cowboys (0-4) at Independence Stadium. Devion Stewart passed for four TDs and Keshawn McCuller rushed for two more for the Lions. Kevin Coleman, Kentrell Johnson, Kenshawn McCallum and Zakyvain Howard added scores.

Calvary 53, Union Parish 0: The Cavaliers (4-0) ran roughshod over the winless Farmers (0-4). "We scored about every way possible," said Calvary coach Rodney Guin.

North Webster 42, Lakeview 0: The Knights (1-3) got rolling offensively behind Jardin Hill, who had two receiving TDs and a kickoff return score. Jakayden Jackson, Jquarion Easter and Keshawn Evans also scored against the Gators (2-2).

Glenbrook 43, LaSalle 22: Braxton Tibbitt hooked up with Darron Hollingsworth three times for TDs as the Apaches (1-3) won handily over the Tigers (1-3). Tibbitt tossed a fourth TD pass to Keaton Davis, while Louie Collins and Carson Whitehead added TDs.

Logansport 62, Delta Charter 0: Kaiton Packett rushed 10 times for 110 yards and four TDs in the runaway win for the Tigers (4-0) over the Storm (0-4). Kollin Magee was 6 for 8 passing for 121 yards and two TDs while Jazavian Barnes had a pick-6 and a receiving TD.

Homer 52, D'Arbonne Woods 10: Kevin Williams passed for two scores and ran for two more to lift the Pelicans (1-3) past the Timberwolves (2-2). Michael Wilkins, Deandree Lewis, Jerzyion Levingston and Raymond Castro scored for Homer.

Cedar Creek 26, Rayville 14: The Cougars (4-0) remained undefeated behind Brett Bell, who passed for two scores and ran for another in the close contest with the Hornets (1-3). Payton Harris and Noah Smith scored for the Cougars.

St. Mary's 29, Grant 28: Preston Tilley scored with 21 seconds remaining to lift the Tigers (4-0) to the win over the Cougars (1-3). John Paul Thibodaux, who scored earlier in the game, punched in the 2-point conversion for the final margin. Jacob Thibodaux returned an interception for a score and Gavin Solomon tossed a TD pass to Dennison Morgan.

Green Oaks 50, Red River 22: The Bulldogs (0-3) got TDs from CJ Haskett, Lathyn Lewis and Ashton Johnson in the loss to the Giants (4-0).
