“Unbearable To Listen To”: Fans Push Back Against Gus Johnson After Wrong Call During Michigan vs Minnesota Matchup

Gus Johnson miscalled a play during Michigan's game against Minnesota on Saturday. The veteran announcer thought Michigan freshman running back Savion Hiter had the ball on what was actually a keeper by sophomore quarterback Bryce Underwood.

The option-style play occurred near midfield with Michigan trailing 7-0. Johnson failed to track the ball and thought Underwood had handed it off.

Fans quickly reacted to the moment, calling for Johnson to be taken off air.

"I'm not sure this is even a hot take these days, but Gus Johnson is unbearable to listen to on football broadcasts," one fan added.

The above game at Huntington Bank Stadium in Minneapolis was broadcast nationally by FOX, with Johnson on play-by-play, Joel Klatt as the analyst and Jenny Taft reporting from the sideline.

Johnson is best known for his dramatic play-by-play commentary on college football and basketball for FOX Sports. Before joining FOX Sports, he called NCAA Tournament games, NFL games and college football for CBS Sports.

In the 100th Little Brown Jug rivalry game on Saturday, Michigan led Minnesota 14-7 at halftime at Huntington Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

The Wolverines entered the game 3-1 after their dramatic 20-19 loss to Iowa. Minnesota is also 3-1 after beating Washington 27-24 on the road.
