WWE fans have had a great run with Cody Rhodes as the babyface of the company but things could be about to change.

Rhodes has very much led WWE into the new era alongside Roman Reigns and he's earned the nickname 'QB1' for a reason.

However, with so much talent on the roster now and a lot of babyfaces in there as well, there have been multiple calls from fans to see Rhodes go rogue and turn full heel.

Recent weeks have given up glimpses into how Rhodes the heel would work while those who saw his run in AEW will know exactly what he brings to the table.

Now, it looks like we've stepped ever closer.

Cody Rhodes teases heel turn in interview with Michael Cole

WWE are doing a great job at the moment of putting different aspects of their product across different platforms.

With Rhodes doing an interview with Michael Cole for Smackdown last night, it seemed it was the usual shtick from Rhodes towards Randy Orton.

However, Triple H then shared fresh footage of the interview ending where Rhodes whispered to Cole that 'If it happens again, I'm going to kick his f——- head off'.

The story with Orton is very much building and continuing organically.

There is no need for any sort of title involvement and the story is basically already there for both Rhodes and Orton to work with.

The payoff is coming soon and whether or not we see Rhodes finally take that dark turn, or we see WWE use it as a way to suggest Rhodes will never go down that path, remains to be seen.
