Zay Flowers Injury Update: Ravens WR’s Hamstring Issue Puts Sunday Status in Doubt

The Baltimore Ravens are heading into their Week 3 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys already short on some important pieces in the passing game. Zay Flowers has been the biggest name to watch after missing Week 2 with a hamstring issue, and the Ravens have spent this week monitoring whether its top receiver can make it back in time for Sunday.

The Ravens have reason to be cautious with Flowers, especially after the same hamstring problem already forced him out of the second half of Week 1 and kept him sidelined against the New Orleans Saints .

Ian Rapoport Raises Concern Over Zay Flowers ' Week 3 Status

NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported on September 24 that the Ravens are taking a careful approach with Flowers because they want the wide receiver available throughout the season. However, his latest practice status has created another hurdle ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Cowboys.

"Did not practice yesterday, that does not bode well for his participation on Sunday."

That update matters because Flowers has already missed one full game with the injury. He aggravated the hamstring during the Ravens' Week 1 win over the Indianapolis Colts after putting together a huge first half, catching five passes for 150 yards and a touchdown.

He then sat out the Ravens' Week 2 loss to the Saints. Now, with the receiver missing Wednesday's practice ahead of the Cowboys game, the possibility of another absence is becoming harder to ignore. There had still been some optimism earlier in the week. The Ravens head coach, Jesse Minter, described Flowers as day-to-day and said the team would consider what was best for the receiver before deciding his status; however, Rapoport's Thursday update provides a more cautious outlook.

The timing is especially important for the Ravens because the receiver room is already dealing with another setback. Ja'Kobi Lane is on injured reserve, leaving Rashod Bateman , Devontez Walker , LaJohntay Wester , Elijah Sarratt, and Chris Moore among the available wideouts.

Bateman would likely take on an even larger role if Flowers cannot return. He already stepped into the spotlight during Week 2, giving the QB Lamar Jackson another reliable option while Flowers watched from the sideline.

Yet, the 26-year-old's absence would remove the Ravens' most explosive receiving threat. His five-catch, 150-yard performance against the Colts showed how quickly he can change a game when healthy.

For now, Flowers has not officially been ruled out ; however, with the Ravens being careful about his hamstring and Rapoport noting that Wednesday's absence "does not bode well" for Sunday, his status remains one of the biggest injury questions heading into Baltimore's Week 3 clash with Dallas.
