One of the most iconic moments of the NFL season took place on Sunday as the San Francisco 49ers came up against the Seattle Seahawks. Mike Evans of the 49ers appeared to troll his adversary, Trevon Diggs, by checking his name on the back of the shirt as the duo argued about something, leading to a reaction from the entire football world.
While many laughed it off, Jarvis Landry seemed to take exception to the behavior shown on the field by Mike Evans. The former Miami Dolphins wide receiver made it clear he would have "slapped" Mike Evans if he tried something similar on him.
"My instincts, I would have just slapped Mike for like just as soon as he would did I just slapped him like my that alone check try to check my nameplate like to check my nameplate bro that's disrespectful bro," Landry said.
"You get the chart of numbers and the names on during the week when you do the scout study. So you know who it is already out there."
Evans Explained His Actions After The Game
When asked about the incident after the game, Mike Evans appeared to suggest he genuinely had no clue who the player under the helmet was.
"I mean, I was blocking him until the whistle, and then [Diggs] said something like I'm doing extra or something like that," Evans said to the media, as reported by NBC .
"And I didn't know that was him at first, because I played against him a few times and we always been cool, you know, he's a good player. I honestly didn't know it was him because in the helmet, it's hard to tell sometimes, and you know, we were just talking trash.
"I think I like pushed him, and then I was like, 'Who are you?' And I looked to make sure … And then he mushed me. It should have been a penalty. But yeah, I mean, it is what it is."
The 49ers are back in action against the Commanders on Monday with Mike Evans set to start.
