Seahawks injury update: Drake Thomas ruled out vs. Broncos
Hopefully backup linebacker Tyrice Knight has his shining armor ready for Thursday.
The curse of the short week has hit the Seattle Seahawks ahead of their Thursday night showdown with the Denver Broncos, as the team will be without one of their starting linebackers.
Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald ruled out linebacker Drake Thomas, running back Zach Charbonnet and linebacker Chazz Surratt on Wednesday. Thomas, who emerged as Ernest Jones IV's partner in crime in 2025, is recovering from an ankle injury he suffered late in the second quarter against the San Francisco 49ers last week.
In place of the injured Thomas, Macdonald said the team will lean on the team's 2024 fourth-round pick Tyrice Knight. The UTEP product has had several stints in the starting lineup throughout his three years with the Seahawks, but hasn't found the field much and only recorded one tackle in 2026.
Charbonnet continues his ACL rehab and will not make it back for the pivotal game against the Broncos. The Seahawks running back was so dearly missed last week, but fans will hope for a bounce-back week from Emmanuel Wilson and George Holani, who struggled against the 49ers. Velus Jones Jr. appears to be the other running back option after the Seahawks added him to their active roster on Wednesday .
There may be positive news on Charbonnet soon, at least according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, who reported that there is a "legitimate chance" that the Seahawks back returns in Week 7.
Surratt mostly serves as a special teams player, so it wouldn't be shocking to see the team elevate wide reciever Irv Charles from the practice squad to bolster that unit and give them more positional flexibility.
A mostly healthy Seahawks team will head to Denver and look to get back on track this Thursday at 5:15 p.m.
