Mississippi State Bulldogs quarterback Kamario Taylor was forced to leave Saturday's contest against the Oklahoma Sooners after sustaining a lower-body injury in the first half. It's brutal timing, as Taylor just returned for this matchup after missing the program's 31-0Week 7 loss to the LSU Tigers.
The injury happened in the first quarter when the sophomore quarterback was tackled out of bounds while scrambling for about three or four yards. Taylor was seen limping along the sidelines before going to the locker room with trainers.
Unfortunately, Taylor will not be returning to the Week 8 matchup against Oklahoma, as Mississippi State ruled the star quarterback out for the remainder of the game, according to Pete Thamel of ESPN. Backup Parker Puckett will finish the rest of Saturday's contest.
"Kamario Taylor has been ruled out for the rest of the game," Thamel reported.
The 19-year-old signal-caller finished the day with just 10 passing yards, completing just two of his five attempts. As previously mentioned, Taylor entered this game against Oklahoma bouncing back from a lower-body injury. Mississippi State will conduct further evaluation before determining whether or not this is a new injury or if Taylor aggravated a previous injury.
Taylor began the campaign as one of the hottest quarterbacks in college football . However, injuries have derailed his production ever since. Including Saturday's outing, the Mississippi State star has accumulated 1,460 passing yards, 17 passing touchdowns (SEC-high for now), while completing 66.2% of his pass attempts. His 290.0 passing yards per game average is still the highest in the SEC. He's also rushed for 147 yards and one score.
