Ravens rookie says he'd take Baltimore backup QB over Jayden Daniels

Many questions have surrounded Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels. Some of those questions date back to before he was drafted. His size. His durability. All of that was part of why he wasn't selected No. 1 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Commanders, though, were willing to overlook some of those questions because they saw something in Daniels. And what they saw was what the rest of us eventually saw on the field in 2024, as Daniels took the league by storm and brought Raise Hail Nation back to life.

Then came 2025. Injuries. Losses. Daniels missed time. The questions that were asked before the 2024 NFL Draft resurfaced. Now, ahead of the 2026 season, there is so much shade being thrown at Daniels that Baltimore Ravens rookie Ja'Kobi Lane told Commanders rookie Antonio Williams that he'd rather have Tyler Huntley as his quarterback than Jayden Daniels.

"And we got the best dual-threat quarterback in the league," Lane says. "What?"

"Lamar Jackson, the best in the world, are you crazy? Snoop… 5… I'm taking my 5 over your 5," Lane says. "Snoop" refers to Ravens' backup quarterback Tyler "Snoop" Huntley.

"No, you're not," Williams replied matter-of-factly.

"Yes, I am. I'm taking Tyler Huntley over the Commanders' quarterback every time."

It's one thing for a rookie wide receiver to have the back of his quarterback, and he might have an argument if he's talking about Lamar Jackson. But Huntley? He's a career backup who barely sees the field. He's never been a full-time starter on any team he's played for. In fact, the only team that has had him on their active roster is the Ravens. The Cleveland Browns and Miami Dolphins have had him on their practice squads.

You want to talk about a major dig, a way to give Daniels fuel for the fire burning in his soul as he prepares to remind the NFL who he really is? This is a great way to do that.

If you look at Huntley's 2021 season, he played in the most games of his career that season, and compare it to Daniels' 2025 season, here's what you get:

Huntley: Seven games, 122 completions for 1,081 yards, three touchdowns, four interceptions, 18 sacks, and a quarterback rating of 76.6.

Daniels: Seven games, 114 completions for 1,262 yards, eight touchdowns, three interceptions, 18 sacks, and a quarterback rating of 88.1.

Most people will take those eight touchdowns and three interceptions over three touchdowns and four interceptions all day long. Plus, Daniels was playing through injury in some of those games. So, while Huntley is a great backup, no one will ever take that away from him; he will, in no way, shape, or form, ever be able to replace Jayden Daniels.

We get it, rookie, have your quarterback's back. But also, use some sense.
