DFS - Fantasy Domination Primetime Slate - Week 1

Dak Prescott (QB1) and Jaxson Dart (QB2) are the safe plays on this slate. Bo Nix (QB3) and Patrick Mahomes (QB4) make legitimate alternatives, but their opposing defenses are elite. If I had to choose one, it would be Nix. Fortunately, I don't have to choose either of them.

This week, I am also targeting the two running backs in the Giants -Cowboys tilt. Javonte Williams (RB1) is the top option on this slate. You can't fade him. RB2 is closer; I am leaning Cam Skattebo (RB2) over Kenneth Walker III (RB3), because of the price difference and their matchup. I don't want any part of the three-headed fool's errand that is the Denver backfield. J.K. Dobbins (RB4) is the best talent there, but the team intends to split the workload between him and R.J. Harvey (RB5). Harvey gets all the passing game work, making him a better option than Dobbins on DK. The team also intends to mix in rookie Jonah Coleman (RB7). Denver believes Coleman can get the job done both between the tackles and through the air, but this only earns him handcuff-level value without an injury to either Harvey or Dobbins.

The Giants have three proven veteran backups to Skattebo: Najee Harris (RB8), Tyrone Tracy Jr. (RB11) and Devin Singletary (RB12).When you have three backups ... you have zero backups. I cannot see starting any of them. With that said, Harris may have some Showdown value. Training camp darling Emmett Johnson (RB9) won the RB2 job in KC. He won't see significant touches this season without an injury. You can ignore him here. Malik Davis (RB13 - hip) won the backup job for the Cowboys in the preseason; unfortunately, he was carted off the practice field on Friday and appears likely to miss significant time. His injury will elevate Emari Demercado (RB10) into the depth rotation. Demercado had a few decent games for Arizona earlier in his career, but he only has Showdown value here.

You'd need to be insane to not roster one of the two Dallas starting receivers. CeeDee Lamb (WR1) and George Pickens (WR2) rank one and two on this slate. Rostering both would be difficult, but not impossible. It comes down to whether you want to get Malik Nabers (WR3 - knee) in your lineup at WR2. My preference is playing one of the Cowboys paired with Nabers. The pivot options would be either Jaylen Waddle (WR4) or Courtland Sutton (WR5). You can also consider one of them at WR3. Between those two, I would lean Waddle. Denver's pass defense is elite, so you can fade both Rashee Rice (WR6) and Xavier Worthy (WR7). I'd actually rather play Darnell Mooney (WR8), Marvin Mims Jr. (WR9) or Troy Franklin (WR10)

If I don't go spend-crazy at WR3/FLEX, I am leaning Franklin, Malachi Fields (WR11), Ryan Flournoy (WR12) or Odell Beckham Jr. (WR13). Pat Bryant (WR14) and Tyquan Thornton (WR15) are better best-ball plays than DFS plays. Both have Showdown value, but this is not the place to get cute with them. Cyrus Allen (WR16) flashed dominance this preseason, but he won't see the field without multiple injuries. Consider him useless at this point.

We have three very good tight ends on this docket (and they are all reasonably priced). I'm going to lean in favor of Isaiah Likely (TE1) and Travis Kelce (TE2), but Jake Ferguson (TE3) is certainly in play. This is also my favorite way to target the FLEX position this week. Using double-tight end opens the door to potentially use Lamb, Nabers and Waddle at WR. Sean Payton tends to ignore the tight end position. You should ignore his tight ends as well. Evan Engram (TE5) and Adam Trautman (TE6) are, at best, Showdown dart throws. I'd even use Theo Johnson (TE4) and possibly Noah Gray (TE7) before them.

I abhor cheering against the Chiefs, but Mahomes is coming off a major leg injury, and he is facing the frightening Broncos' defense. They are the best option on the defense board, and the price is reasonable.
