Report: Klopp set to leave Undav out of Germany squad

New Germany coach Jürgen Klopp is set to leave VfB Stuttgart striker Deniz Undav out of his squad for the upcoming Nations League matches, broadcaster Sky have reported.

Undav has already been told in a personal conversation with Klopp that he will not be included in the squad, according to Tuesday night's report.

The 30-year-old is a key player for Stuttgart and their new captain but has yet to score this season. He has, however, provided four assists in all competitions.

Undav has an impressive record for Germany, scoring nine goals in just 13 international appearances.

He also scored three times at the World Cup earlier this year under Klopp's predecessor Julian Nagelsmann, with all three goals coming as a substitute. Before Germany's opening game against Curaçao , Klopp had said he would have liked to have seen Undav in the starting line-up.

Klopp is instead expected to turn to Eintracht Frankfurt forwards Younes Ebnoutalib and Jonathan Burkardt when he names his squad on Thursday, according to media reports.

Ebnoutalib would be making his Germany debut. The striker is also eligible to represent Morocco .

Germany play their first matches under Klopp away to the Netherlands on September 24, at home to Greece on September 27 and Serbia on October 1, before travelling to Greece on October 4.

Klopp is due to announce his squad on Thursday.
