49ers news: Does Kyle Shanahan ever want to come back to Australia after travel hubbub?

The San Francisco 49ers look incredible in their season opener . San Francisco trounced Los Angeles in a 27-7 win that never felt particularly close. Kyle Shanahan was not initially thrilled about opening the regular season with an international game. But getting a huge division win in Week 1 makes everything look a lot better.

Shanahan did not sound surprised to receive questions about the potential impact that travel made on Thursday's big game.

"Win or lose, I know everybody was going to make a big deal about that for either team," Shanahan said, per ESPN's Nick Wagoner. "You never know how much that factors into it. You just try to do the best to prepare for 3½ hours. I liked how we prepared, but more importantly, I liked how we played."

Both teams had wildly different travel plans for this Australia game. The 49ers arrived in Australia nearly a week in advance. Meanwhile, the Rams showed up in Australia just one night before kickoff .

Regardless, the 49ers have to be thrilled with how they performed in Week 1. Especially against a division opponent that is widely viewed as the NFL's best overall team .

Shanahan seemed to enjoy his time "Down Under." But that doesn't mean he wants the 49ers to play another international game in Australia anytime soon.

"It was cool. I would like to come back when I'm not working, though," Shanahan added. "It seemed awesome. Seemed like a cool place. But it's tough when you're working the whole time. … I like 17 home games in San Francisco. Nothing against Australia, just don't like to travel."

Now the 49ers have some extra time to travel back to the US before their next game.

Shanahan won't ever get his dream of 17 consecutive home games. But at least the 49ers will return to Levi's Stadium for their next game.

San Francisco will host Miami in Week 2 at 4:25PM ET on September 20th.
