Jokic discussed the defenders who make his job difficult during an appearance on the Jao Mile podcast . When the conversation reached Gobert, the Denver star dismissed the idea that the Timberwolves center is overrated on defense.

"Rudy Gobert, I know people have all kinds of opinions about him, but Rudy is a good defender. He showed it in the last playoffs," Jokic said.

This praise means a lot , especially since Jokic still puts up big numbers against Gobert. Jokic isn't saying he can completely shut him down, but he is admitting that Gobert forces him to earn every single bucket.

The 2026 playoffs gave Jokic a fresh look at that challenge. Minnesota trusted Gobert to defend him without constant double teams, allowing the Timberwolves to keep their other defenders focused on Denver's shooters. The Wolves eventually eliminated the Nuggets in six games.
