Saints elevate two wide receivers for Week 3 home opener vs. Raiders

A couple of wide receivers are coming up from the New Orleans Saints practice squad for Week 3's home opener with the Las Vegas Raiders . For one of them, it's the last time.

Veteran backup Kevin Austin Jr. will be elevated from the practice squad for the third and final time this season on Sunday. NFL rules prohibit teams from calling up a player from the practice squad more than three times in a single season before requiring them to sign with the 53-man roster. Austin has mainly worked as a blocker while offering depth behind Chris Olave , Devaughn Vele , Bryce Lance, and Barion Brown .

He's being joined by Jalen Moreno-Cropper, a journeyman who previously played for the Dallas Cowboys and UFL's Houston Gamblers. With Brown sidelined by a hamstring injury, expect Moreno-Cropper to handle duties in the return game fielding punts and kickoffs. That's something he did during the preseason. Brown made a game-changing play in a big kick return before halftime last week, so let's see if Moreno-Cropper can keep the special teams on point Sunday afternoon.
