Former Saints draft pick gets fresh start on new team's practice squad

Former New Orleans Saints wide receiver Bub Means cleared waivers after being let go during Sunday's roster cuts, but he isn't staying put. Instead, Means is signing with the Cleveland Browns ' practice squad, per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler . It's a fresh start for the former fifth-round draft pick.

Means, 25, flashed potential through a couple of years in New Orleans but just couldn't stay healthy. His 2024 rookie year ended on injured reserve, and a preseason injury cut short his 2025 follow-up before it got off the ground. He's healthy now, though, and hoping to stand out in a new environment. Cleveland drafted wide receivers in both the first (KC Concepcion) and second rounds (Denzel Boston) while bringing back Jerry Jeudy, Isaiah Bond, Malachi Corley, and Tylan Wallace. That's a solid receiving corps even with a shaky quarterback situation.

The Saints will host the Browns on Sunday, Nov. 8, coming out of their bye week and a road trip to face the Pittsburgh Steelers in Paris. Maybe Means will be in the opposing lineup.
