Falcons HC Kevin Stefanski shares positive update on rookie LB Kendal Daniels
The Atlanta Falcons lost starting linebacker Kendal Daniels to a neck injury during Sunday's 31-23 loss to the Chicago Bears . Daniels was down on the ground for several minutes in a scary moment at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Both teams sat in silence as the medial staff tended to the injured rookie. Daniels was eventually carted off and taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.
According to Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski, Daniels is out of the hospital and has returned to the team facility.
"All positive news on Kendal Daniels," Stefanski said during his Monday press conference. "He's here back in the building today. He got back from the hospital to the locker room after the game. So I feel very, very fortunate that he got the treatment that he got, but also we feel really good about where he is."
Daniels has been an incredible asset to Atlanta's defense this season. The fourth-round pick out of Oklahoma won the starting job out of training camp and hasn't looked back. Stefanski did not have an update on Daniels' status for the team's Week 7 game against the San Francisco 49ers.
"I have no updates really on Kendal for this game, or really anybody yet. Still working through imaging and those types of things on a bunch of guys but we'll work through that this week."
Assuming Daniels is out for Sunday's game, the Falcons would look to rookie linebacker Harold Perkins Jr. The sixth-round pick out of LSU has played well this season and should have no trouble stepping up.
Regardless of Daniels' status for Week 7, it's good to hear that he is out of the hospital and feeling better.
