He is currently averaging 13.4 points and 8.2 rebounds. In four out of the first five games, Smith has scored in double figures. He scored 15 points in the season opener against the Toronto Raptors, in a 135-92 loss for Chicago. Then, Smith put up a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds in the 132-125 win over the Milwaukee Bucks.

In their season home opener, Smith scored 14 points in their 124-120 loss to the Washington Wizards. On Monday against the Celtics, Smith only scored 7 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.

He then followed up with a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds against the Knicks on Wednesday.

Overall, Smith provides additional frontcourt depth and versatile scoring and rebounding. He isn't a natural starter, but he's stepped up as part of the secondary unit.
