Ex-Spartan star wears Blue & Gold as Notre Dame son faces alma mater

Ex-NFL receiver Plaxico Burress considered one of the greatest college football players to come out of Michigan State .

Burress was spotted at the Michigan State-Notre Dame game on Saturday night, but the former 12-year NFL veteran wasn't decked out in green and white.

Photos of Burress on social media showed him donning the green, blue and gold in support of his son Elijah Burress , a sophomore receiver for the Fighting Irish .

Elijah Burress has played in one game so far this season. He had three catches for 33 yards in Notre Dame's 52-0 win over Rice last weekend.

Plaxico Burress was with the Spartans from 1996 to 1999. A first team All-Big Ten nod, he finished his college career with 118 catches for 1,970 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns.

Burress played for the Pittsburgh Steelers , New York Giants and New York Giants in his professional career, compiling 553 receptions for 8,499 yards and 64 TDs. He was also a Super Bowl champion with the Giants.
