Announced in advance of this week's show were:
Intercontinental Championship Match: Chad Gable vs. Ethan Page
Chelsea Green, Tiffany Stratton, and Iyo Sky vs. Liv Morgan, Roxanne Perez, and Raquel Rodriguez
Last Time in Action: Roman Reigns defeated LA Knight (Money in the Bank, October 10)
Just days before he battles Undisputed WWE Champion Sami Zayn in the main event of Crown Jewel, Roman Reigns hit the ring in the Barclays Center to kick off Monday's Raw.
Before the OTC could get too far into his promo, The Last Real Good Guy interrupted, drawing boos but also a serenade from some loyal ride-or-dies in Brooklyn.
Zayn took exception to Reigns overlooking him and talking about the 946, to which the Tribal Chief responded by claiming he is the reason his upcoming opponent has a job, is a champion, and is making millions.
He claimed Zayn was "Johnny Knoxville's little b***h" when he found him. The WWE champion blasted Reigns, reminding him and the fans that they will remember his match with the Jackass star for the next decade, while no one remembers anything about the world champion's "sixth-of-12" match against Brock Lesnar.
A fired-up Reigns expressed disdain for what Zayn has become and, more importantly, that he ruined what he spent time creating. He vowed to win Saturday and demanded that Brooklyn acknowledge him to close things out.
This was an extraordinary promo. Zayn was otherworldly and his line about being the "g*****n WWE Champion" would have been the perfect exclamation point in any other situation. Reigns was equally great, remaining confident while clearly shaken by Zayn's criticisms. Their match Saturday might be an all-timer in the making.
It is still amazing how over Reigns remains as a when at its core, this OTC character is no different than the heel character that reigned supreme for four years.
Reigns claimed that had he not beaten Brock Lesnar for the WWE title at WrestleMania 38, Zayn wouldn't hold it today because it would not exist, is wrong. The only title that would not exist today is the world title that he currently holds.
