VOTE for the HSS North Jersey Soccer Player of the Week for Sept. 21-27

After another wild week of the high school soccer season, it's time to look back on the best performances.

Baer made 26 saves and allowed one goal in two division wins last week, including a 17-save shutout against Demarest in a 1-0 victory that put the Tigers in first place. Ranked No. 1 in the Big North in saves, Baer is a key reason for Tenafly's hot start after graduating its entire starting defense.

Matthew Brooks, River Dell junior goalie

Brooks recorded two shutouts and made 25 saves last week, helping River Dell earn road victories over Mahwah and Ridgefield Park. The Golden Hawks are now 4-2 after finishing with six wins last year.

Kim recorded four goals and four assists in two wins last week, including his first career hat trick against Waldwick, as Glen Rock remained unbeaten and atop the NJIC Colonial. Kim now has 11 goals this season after totaling six during his first three varsity seasons.

Will Raman, Northern Highlands senior midfielder

Raman scored three goals and two assists in three wins, including a 2-0 victory over No. 2 Ramsey. The captain set up the game-clinching goal against Ramsey and sunk the winner against Pascack Hills as the Highlanders extended their winning streak to five games.

Madisyn Abella, Immaculate Heart junior forward

Abella helped the Blue Eagles cruise past a pair of ranked opponents last week, picking up six goals and one assist overall. She set a career-high by scoring four times against Bergen Tech.

Illuzzi continues to be one of the top scorers in the NJIC after lifting her team past Lodi and Weehawken. She combined for eight goals and one assist over two matches.

Pothos powered the offense with back-to-back hat tricks in wins over Northern Highlands and Teaneck. She finished with six goals and three assists for the week.

Alejandra Santos, Bergenfield junior goalie

Santos stopped 18 of 19 shots as Bergenfield knocked off two more opponents to improve to 6-0. She saved all 10 against Hackensack, as the Bears doubled their win total from last season.
