Carroll football's suspension upheld by LHSAA executive committee
An LHSAA official confirmed to the Monroe News-Star that the executive committee upheld Carroll's suspension Wednesday.
MONROE — The LHSAA executive committee unanimously upheld Carroll High School football's rest-of-season suspension on Wednesday, Oct. 7, an LHSAA official confirmed to the Monroe News-Star.
The Bulldogs, who finished with a 2-2 record, were suspended by the LHSAA's Sportsmanship Committee for the remainder of the 2025-26 season following a postgame altercation after their 14-6 loss at Assumption. The Mustangs were fined $500 and will not host any more home games for the rest of the season.
"No members of the Sportsmanship Committee participated as voting members in the Executive Committee's appeal decision," the LHSAA wrote in a statement.
Carroll filed an appeal of its suspension with the LHSAA last Thursday. State senator and Bulldogs graduate Katrina Jackson-Andrews said in an interview with the News-Star the punishment Carroll received was a "disproportionate" response to what happened after the Carroll-Assumption game.
"My heart goes out to the seniors who are facing their season ending," Jackson-Andrews said regarding the suspension.
