Myles Garrett gets brutally honest about his disappointing Rams debut

Myles Garrett made his debut for the Los Angeles Rams in Week 1, but it didn't go quite as the franchise probably had hoped it would.

Just one year after setting the new NFL single-season sack record and winning Defensive Player of the Year honors, Garrett finds himself playing for the Rams after being traded from the Cleveland Browns . And his first game with the franchise could not have been more lackluster.

Garrett recorded zero sacks, zero tackles, and zero quarterback hurries as the Rams were beaten 27-7 by the San Francisco 49ers .

After the loss Garrett spoke with the media, and he certainly pulled no punches about how disappointed he was with his own performance, taking accountability for the poor effort and promising improvement.

"This was the worst version of myself I've put out there. I gotta be better," Garrett said.

There are plenty of possible reasons for Garrett's struggles to start the season. You could blame it on the travel itinerary , which saw the Rams travel to Australia on a 17-hour flight just one day before the game, not giving themselves time to acclimate to the time change. You could also blame growing pains as he adjusts to a new system and a new team.

But with all the hype surrounding the potential greatness of a defensive line anchored by the returning Aaron Donald (who did not make the trip for Week 1) and Garrett, the veteran defensive end will need to step up his game to live up to the insanely high expectations upon him this season.
