Falcons DT Gervon Dexter's 3-word reaction to signing 4-year extension
Falcons DT Gervon Dexter made one thing clear after inking 4-year extension..
"Just getting started," Falcons defensive tackle Gervon Dexter wrote on social media upon signing a four-year, $78 million contract extension that will keep him Atlanta through the 2030 NFL season.
The former second-round pick spent his first three years with the Chicago Bears but was traded to the Falcons at the start of the 2026 season.
Atlanta had been looking for another dominant interior defensive tackle since letting Grady Jarrett sign with the Bears in 2025, and the team appears to have found one in Dexter.
The 24-year-old has made quite an impression over his first three games in Atlanta. Dexter currently leads all defensive tackles in QB pressure rate (20.5%), and has helped the Falcons become the NFL's No. 1 run defense.
The Falcons have another budding star in third-year defensive tackle Brandon Dorlus , who continues to improve as the team surrounds him with more talent.
Between Dexter, Dorlus, Maason Smith , Cameron Thomas and LaCale London , Atlanta's defensive line rotation looks promising for the future.
"Gervon is a young, ascending talent whose power, disruption and impact along the defensive line are difficult to find," Falcons GM Ian Cunningham said of Dexter's extension. "What's been just as impressive is the growth he's shown off the field as a man and a father."
The defense should only continue to improve when the team gets both Jalon Walker (ACL injury) and James Pearce Jr. (suspended) back in the lineup.
