Lions lead 7-0 as Jameson Williams scores TD, Trey Smack misses 26-yard field goal
The Packers' offense did its job on the first possession of today's game in Detroit.
The Packers' offense did its job on the first possession of today's game in Detroit. Packers kicker Trey Smack did not.
After the Packers marched deep into Detroit territory and had first-and-goal, the Lions' defense held, and Smack and the field goal team came onto the field for what should have been a chip shot.
But after the Packers were called for delay of game and moved back five yards farther, Smack missed a 26-yard field goal.
It was a disappointing ending to a good first drive, one on which Jordan Love threw the ball well and Savion Williams and Matthew Golden both made big plays.
Packers running back Josh Jacobs, playing his first game of the season after the NFL allowed him to return from the commissioner's exempt list following a domestic violence accusation, had three carries for four yards on the drive.
On the Lions' first drive, Jared Goff looked great, completing all three of his passes for 68 yards, the last of which was a 16-yard touchdown toss to Jameson Williams. It's 7-0 Lions.
