Coach Mike Brown 's New York Knicks are 3-4 on the season after a workmanlike effort and win over the Brooklyn Nets at Madison Square Garden that led to comments on Mikal Bridges' recent workload reduction . Brown sent a message to point guard Tyler Kolek about Jose Alvarado's return as the Knicks faced their crosstown adversaries.

Kolek wound up playing five minutes and scoring two points while Alvardo played nine minutes and had a block against the Nets. Kolek's minutes came in the fourth quarter , which showed Brown's trust in him.

"I think it shows his (Brown's) confidence in me," Kolek said in the Knicks' locker room after the game. "I think he has confidence in every game on the roster. "As he's shown, he'll throw any guy in at any time, to do the spark," the Knicks' backup point guard said.

The Knicks got 22 points from guard Landry Shamet to lead their offensive attack, along with 19 points from Jalen Brunson and 18 from OG Anunoby. Knicks star Josh Hart gave a shoutout to Shamet, Alvarado and Kolek after the win, as New York moved to 3-4 on the season while the Nets fell to 1-6.

New York hasn't exactly started off on the right foot this season, but they're gaining confidence and developing depth as the season has gotten underway. The Knicks will need unexpected contributions this season if they are to repeat as NBA champions, and Kolek sounds like he has the right attitude with the season continuing to unfold in the Big Apple.
