Wilson finished the Steelers' Week 1 win by catching three of his six targets for 26 yards. His six targets were tied for the second-most on Pittsburgh, while his involvement could have been even greater considering he also drew a defensive pass interference penalty on a deep pass during the first half.

When reporters questioned Rodgers about Wilson's number of targets, the Steelers quarterback made it clear that he was not concerned about where the receiver ranked on the team's target list.

"I don't give a sh*t about the target list," Rodgers said . "I don't care about any of that. I love Roman, (and) I think he's done a great job, you know. I think there's going to be a player too. That he makes that allows him to take off. But I thought he played fast last week, thought he played decisive, and I think he's just going to keep on getting better."

Despite receiving six targets, Wilson ran 29 routes compared to Michael Pittman Jr. 's 42, showing that he remains the Steelers' clear WR3 entering the season. That role could limit his opportunities, particularly in an offense that may not consistently produce high-scoring games.

Rodgers himself finished Week 1 with 221 passing yards, one touchdown and no interceptions. While discussing Wilson again, the Steelers quarterback reiterated his strong belief in the young receiver and expressed confidence that a breakout moment could eventually arrive.

"I love Roman. I think he's done a great job. You know, I think there's gonna be a play, too, that he makes…that allows him to take off, but I thought he played fast last week. I thought he played decisively, and I think he's just gonna keep on getting better."

Wilson endured an underwhelming start to his NFL career. He played only five snaps as a rookie after injuries disrupted his season before producing just 166 receiving yards and two touchdowns last season.

Still, Wilson has another opportunity to establish himself as a meaningful piece of Pittsburgh's offense, particularly with a new offensive system and Rodgers at quarterback. His Week 1 performance showed some encouraging signs, but with competition for opportunities and a limited number of routes, the young receiver will need to make the most of his chances as the season moves forward.
