Cubs news: Pete Crow-Armstrong's admission after reaching 40/40 feat

The Chicago Cubs had one heck of a day on Thursday. Not only did they clinch a spot in the postseason , but MVP front-runner Pete Crow-Armstrong became the seventh player in MLB history to record a 40/40 season (40 home runs and 40 stolen bases in a season). Crow-Armstrong spoke to reporters after the game about reaching the impressive feat, via Jesse Rogers of ESPN.

"Recently here I've really felt how badly people wanted it for me. I wanted it, I wanted to put myself in same conversations as such impressive and great players," Crow-Armstrong said. "… You know, it's like if I take the right base it was gonna help the team… I'm so lucky for that realization, that approach to the game. I was just overcome with a lot of different emotions, pretty grateful."

Crow-Armstrong unquestionably helped his team this season. He entered Thursday's game with a 9.8 WAR (wins above replacement) which leads the league , per Baseball Reference. The 24-year-old now has 45 home runs and 40 stolen bases to go along with a .948 OPS, 119 runs scored and 119 RBI.

PCA is one of the best players in the game. He's electric to watch, and he goes about his business with no shortage of confidence. It would not be shocking to see Crow-Armstrong enjoy some more memorable moments in October. This Cubs team may not have the best record in the National League, but they are going to be dangerous in the postseason with Pete Crow-Armstrong leading the way.
