South Carolina fans storm field after Tennessee upset. Then things get ugly

South Carolina's field storm after upsetting Tennessee turned chaotic, with videos showing heated confrontations between Vols players and fans.

Shortly after Malik Orsan's 48-yard field goal split the uprights as time expired, handing South Carolina a dramatic 27-24 win over No. 11 Tennessee , garnet-and-black-clad Gamecocks fans poured onto the field to celebrate the victory.

From that jubilation, though, came some altercations that were captured on video and quickly spread on social media.

In the most high-profile example of chippiness, Tennessee linebacker Jeremiah Telander appeared to throw a punch at a South Carolina player before quickly being pulled away by a security guard and Volunteers staffer before things escalated.

Telander wasn't the only Tennessee player to let his emotions get the better of him, either.

In another video that circulated on social media, Vols lineman Daevin Hobbs appeared to shove a Gamecocks fan who looked to be carrying a whiteboard used to diagram plays away from the Tennessee sideline. After pushing the fan, Hobbs grabbed the easel.

Other gear and video equipment from the Vols' sideline was damaged during the field-storming.

Other videos showed South Carolina fans on the field taunting Tennessee players after the game. In one, a Gamecocks fan shouted profanities and waved his hand in the face of Vols defensive lineman Kedric Golston, who turned his head and walked away.

A request for comment to Tennessee from the Knoxville News Sentinel, a part of the USA TODAY Network, was not immediately returned.

Since South Carolina fans immediately stormed the field and didn't give the opposing team an opportunity to clear the field, the Gamecocks stand to be fined $500,000 by the SEC. That money would go directly to Tennessee, which was fined for its field rush against Alabama last week.

The loss dropped the Vols to 6-2 on the season and came one week after a 26-10 victory over the Crimson Tide, which was the No. 7 team in the country at the time. South Carolina and embattled head coach Shane Beamer, meanwhile, improved to 4-3 and secured their second-consecutive win against a top-15 opponent, having beaten then-No. 15 Florida on Oct. 10.
